To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of Peace Portal, host Feu du Camp takes over the air waves with 1-hour of off-kilter, lo-fi house tracks. Humbly and subtly making waves in the Northwest, Feu du Camp is also the Program Director of KZAX, a low-power FM community radio station based in Bellingham, broadcasting Peace Portal among other Northwest and West Coast bass music productions through the night.
What have you been up to lately?
After DJing out pretty consistently this summer, I've been pretty heavily focused on the radio station lately due to a lot of exciting opportunities coming up that I couldn't pass on. Now that the indoor season is really setting in here in the PNW though, I'm excited to be spending more time behind the decks and with new music.
How and where did you record the mix?
I recorded this mix off the live feed in the KZAX studio on my NVII. Fun little controller, and I really like the feel of playing live. Whether or not anybody listened live, its exciting to broadcast the mix live!
Tell us a bit about the mix!
This mix is a selection of some of my favorite house tracks of all time! I've come to call this sound "dirt" house or "dusty" house, but in essence its jazzy, J Dilla-inspired, Detroit house. Nice easy listening, both danceable and ambient.
What are you up to next?
I'm getting ready to throw the first live Peace Portal event, which is the 2nd anniversary party, hosted by KZAX and at a new club in town. I'm stoked to be sharing the mixes from that night also as an addition to this mix! I've started planning monthly events like this, so that Peace Portal can share more mixes, from more DJs, more often! We're announcing the next moves at the anniversary party, so stay tuned for more from there...
