Thanks for stepping thru the Peace Portal and into the New Year for the first mix of 2018! Peace Portal has some great things in store, and I’m excited to get the year started off with a mix from @pacifixsounds! Pacifix is the alias for 21 year old music producer Garrett Barber from Mount Vernon, WA. Garrett is a senior at WWU majoring in marketing. He taught himself the piano and started making beats in high school and then progressed on to making electronic music. Thanks to Pacifix for throwing a rad mix, and to everyone who tunes in to the live broadcast on air or online via 94.9 KZAX-LPFM Bellingham, WA the first Friday of each month at 10 PM! What inspired this mix / what mood or vibe was I trying to achieve?
Movies, clubbing, going to concerts, being in Thailand, my favorite artists, and my close friends Alex Olson (Fluencie), Ethan Donovan (Oddlin), Christian Johnston (Ceilla), Andrew Owen (Danny’s Dead), Ethan Vastola, and various other Bellingham artists. For this mix I wasn’t really aiming at any one mood or vibe really, but I guess I would characterize it as something that might work in the club but still give you some feels. I’d say it’s also just me trying to mix some of my music with some of my recent favorites.
Where did you record the mix, and what did you use?
I put this mix together while in Thailand as an exchange student. I used Ableton Live and an APC40 to mix.
What are you up to next?
Trying to improve my music! I got a lot of music I’m trying to finish up and put out soon. I’m putting out an EP at the end of the month of some stuff I made over the last 6 months while studying abroad. I also have a few remixes and singles coming soon with Oddlin and Ceilla, and I’m working with Danny’s Dead on an EP.
