A few months back we rounded up some favorite new West Coast releases selected from Bandcamp's search feature. Among those that were featured was the first release from new L.A.-based label, hindsight. Launched in early December of 2025 by Jessie Callistri and Kiké Mayor, inspired by their shared musical interests, hindsight is intended to establish a creative outlet for raw, authentic productions. While both releases have heavily featured moody deep and minimal grooves from West Coast artists, neither has opted for conformity to any one specific sound.
"It’s really where our two individual tastes meet in the middle, with quality of sound, originality, and genuine creativity being the main drivers," Jessie & Kiké told me over email earlier this week.
Peace Portal is pleased to premiere the A2 of this release, produced by two well known West Coast OGs, Seafoam and Hipp-E, titled Speak Your Mind. The track opens with thumping kick, textural percussion, and chords with a distant warmth. While Speak Your Mind undoubtedly possesses that classic West Coast sensibility, both producers have infused modern sensibilities, offering a refreshing take on the resurgent sound.
"As far as the track with Eric, I started the track on my own but was having trouble with melody. I reached out to Eric and sent him the track and asked him to sprinkle his magic on it and he did. I wrote most of the beats but what he added totally changed the direction of the song. We were never in the same studio we just exchanged files but it was nice to finally work with him after all these years.”
