Premiere: Heart Keeps On - dj_2button (georg-i's Endlessly Searching Mix)

Forrest Camire

May 23, 2025

Purveyors of left-leaning electronics, Weirdos Inc. out of Vancouver B.C. unveil the first piece in a body of work produced by label-head dj_2button.

The remix, by Bristol-based Georg-i, takes the approach of remaining true to the source-material, while fusing in cutting edge percussion and surprising energetic shifts - making the 10+ minute track an emotional journey fit for the club.

Below you'll find a brief interview with the artists and label. Full release upcoming May 28th, available on the Weirdos, Inc. Bandcamp.

Heart Keeps On is a part of a forthcoming body of work you’ve been producing. Can you give us a peek into what these pieces of music encapsulate for you?

Will: I’ve been creating a body of work for some time now, the last 5 years I have been pretty consistent. Multiple alias’ etc. not much of it’s released but its growing. I think I finally have a series of tracks that I’m happy to put out on Weirdos. I’ve spent the last few years wanting to build the label up with friends and artists I look up to sonically. Kind of gave me a direction for the kind of stuff I want to be making for myself to release on the label. Getting there now.

Tell us about your process for remixing Heart Keeps On. For example, the Bandcamp page for this release mentions many iterations leading to this version. Did you end up including ideas from multiple iterations?

George: The process for this remix was quite different from others that I've done. As I completely fell in love with the original track, I decided that I wanted to maintain a lot of its form and core elements whilst adding my own twists and turns. In the first session I had with the track I immediately did what I love doing most - made a big breakdown and the tight groove that follows it. I then spent a lot of time reinforcing the drums and adding all my fidgety little inflections and fills.

Now, if you're someone who's released my music, a collaborator, friend, acquaintance, literally anyone who will listen etc, You've probably been on the receiving end of a barrage of files as I feverishly work through a track I'm making. Will was no exception. As I was finishing up with this track - we were joking about different names. I landed on "Endlessly Searching mix" as its in line with the tracks winding nature and emotional energy whilst also referencing my never ending pursuit for feedback on tiny changes between 2 different files I exported 2 hours apart from each other.

How does George’s remix of Heart Keeps On expand the sound of the label’s catalogue?

Weirdos, Inc.: It’s completely expanding the sound. It’s definitely the most ‘Club’ Track on the series so far. Still left field and weird enough, has a little industrial feel, yet some UK energy. George really did a good job of keeping true to the original emotion but adding his razor sharp production and rhythmic talents to spruce it up ready for a peak time club moment.
